In-case the new background image and annoying start up homepage music didn’t hint it enough; the site has been taken over by a passing circus. It’s cut the prices of ALL items by up to 50%! That means you can grab a £50 sweatshirt for as little as; yup, you guessed it £25! The chances of us putting up with the takeover for longer than a few days or weeks are slim, so make sure you take advantage of the cut prices before they go back to normal!

The takeover has also added an awesome Super Mario arcade game to the site which you can play here for free. (Yes we know Super Mario isn’t exactly circus themed but it’s better than hook the duck!).

You can also enter a raffle for the chance to win some free goodies by following us on Twitter and tweeting us #DirrrteeRaffle, the winners will be picked at random when the circus packs up it’s bags and goes back to the 1940′s.

Barclays London Cycling Hire

Mayor Boris Johnson’s latest initiative in conjunction with Barclays has officially launched today. The Barclays Bicycle Hire scheme has gone live and you can now sign up to become a registered user online here. You can currently register for a Daily, Monthly or Yearly membership with the yearly membership cost hitting £45.00 which works out at around 12p a day. Additional costs then include the hire fee of the bicycle but this is free for the first 30 minutes of hire.

The scheme could be a huge success, from being in Barcelona in the summer for the previous few years and seeing a similar scheme over there it was something I thought would suit London well. Time will tell if the scheme takes off and runs smoothly.

Thai Matic – Let Me Land

Thai Matic’s mixtape Let Me Land is here; it’s free and it’s also pretty damn good! Originally scheduled for release a few weeks ago it was put back whilst final touches were made to get the mix up to perfection. I haven’t previously heard much from Thai Matic but having seen DJ Semtex give the mix a shout out and being a good friend of Kevin Lanre from The Whorington I thought it was something that definitely needed checking out.

Professor Green – Alive ‘Till I’m Dead [Album Review]

When the preview of Professor Greens album Alive Till I’m Dead went live on iTunes I was left a bit disappointed, apart from one main track; Jungle feat. Maverick Sabre, nothing really jumped out at me. Passing judgment on 30 second clips could have been the biggest mistake I could have made about the album though, and thankfully I still went ahead and got the full album on release this morning as undoubtedly this is one of the strongest albums of the year.

Alive Till I’m Dead is one of those albums where you can tell every ounce of effort and talent which Professor Green has, has been put in to every single track. There’s no filler, no tracks to make up the numbers, which coming from an ‘urban’ UK artist is a breath of fresh air.

Far from being an album aimed purely at the Pop market (which you’d be forgiven for assuming on the basis of his first two singles) Alive Till I’m Dead is suited to everyone, including his fans and supporters from The Jump Off days. Tracks such as Do For You offer a brutally honest insight into Greens life before the commercial success came about. Despite a previous hate for love songs Green does include one on the album, Where Do We Go; a track about his relationship with his former partner, typically coming from Green it isn’t a generic love song; there is actually a deep emotional subject on display where he openly discusses the breakdown of the relationship and loss of an unborn child.

There’s no doubt at times the album has its deep moments, but at the same time the album has some pretty funny parts too, his track with Example;- Monster, is pretty much a song about how he would like to shag Pixie Lott, an interesting tactic to get a date to say the least.

The album finishes up on Goodnight, a heavily orchestrated track which is pretty much the perfect way to finish what is evidently days, weeks, months and years of hard work from one of the UK’s best hip-hop/urban/whatever you want to call it; artists.

[New Single] Devlin – Brainwashed (Official Video)

Released on the 8th August, Devlin’s new single Brainwashed features pretty much what you would expect from Dagenhams finest. Lyrically as usual Devlin delivers something a little deeper than your typical grime artist and the carefully sung hook and chorus adds the ‘catchy’ element to the track. A good taster for the soon to be released album Bud, Sweat and Beers but probably not commercial enough to get any chart success. With a little radio play though; who knows it could break the top 20.

Os Gemeos for Viva La Revolucion

The Brazilian duo that is Os Gemeos have really pulled off the stops on this latest mural. Painted in San Diego on the side of a car park this latest mural from the two is the business! There are definitely some drab concrete car parks over here in London which could really do with a visit from Os Gemeos! Imagine seeing this every morning when you park up for work….

Skream – Listenin’ To The Records On My Wall (Official Video)

The latest addition to Skream’s long line of successes is taken from the album ‘Outside The Box’ – which is released on the 9th August on Tempa. The new video to accompany the single can only be described as brilliant, with a long list of people being credited for it on the YouTube channel.
