Reset IV Recap

Last Friday and Saturday saw streetwear sale event The Reset open it’s doors for the fourth time at Nike 1948, Shoreditch. Friday night saw a big turn-out with supporters reaching to enjoy the music, clothing and free beer, it was good vibes all the way up till 10 when the police decided to lock it off for some lame reason, apologies to anyone who arrived late and couldn’t get in. Big up to everyone who passed through and showed support, whether you copped from our stall or from someone elses it’s all love! (More love to those who copped from us though!)

Shouts to all the brands involved; Trapstar, Benjart, Silent London, Ugly Kids Clubs, Second Son, Star Player, G.R.I.N.D, PXL, All Caps and anyone else who was involved who I’ve forgotten.

A month or so ago we took part in FBBB’s (For Boarders By Boarders) sales event at Westbourne Studios. It was a two day weekend event that saw UK Streetwear labels team up alongside skateboarders, artists and film producers. Thanks to all who passed through on Saturday 1st May to our in-store Mash session a good day was had by all! Big up to the artists who passed through and Ego Thieves for putting on a solid mix of dub and summer vibes. Didn’t really get too much time to take photos but managed to take a couple so have a look!

Our Spring/Summer collection will be launching alongside our new collaboration project with SB.TV at Mash store this Saturday! There will be free giveaways plus music from Ego Thieves, you never know you may get lucky and see a special guest too! Make sure you get down to Mash this Saturday (May 1st) from 12-5pm and represent!

Bish Bash Bosh!

We’ve teamed up with UK artist Bashy for this promo shot for the first part of the new Dirrrtee x SB.TV collaboration release. The Black crewneck sweatshirt features a white ‘Fresh 64′ illustration alongside both Dirrrtee and SB.TV branding. As usual with all our products the item features an inner neck print rather than a label for optimal comfort!

ASOS does Streetwear

UK based fashion stockist ASOS have taken a dip in the holy streetwear pool and launched a Streetwear/Skatewear section on their infamous website. It’s sparked a bit of a debate over whether or not this is a positive or negative for the Streetwear scene in the UK. Independent stockists have naturally expressed concerns if this move by ASOS will eventually effect their own sales, as so often indies struggle against the bigger powers, often undercut and gradually stomped out. But what will this move by ASOS, if anything, do for the streetwear scene in the UK?

It’s no secret that the scene in the UK is relatively poor when compared to the USA, with only a handful of UK brands stocked in UK stockists with the majority of names imported from abroad. Independently; brands such as Trapstar, A.IN.T and Second Son have knocked down walls through strong work and sheer determination to gain some form of success within the UK scene and generally most of them can be found in the top indie stockists across the UK, but when you compare that success to the success of New York based Mishka you can really see the difference; whilst we celebrate UK indie brands getting stocked in our own country, Mishka finish celebrating the launch of their Tokyo based flagship store (soon after their LA launch and NY launch). Currently from the UK the brands that ASOS have on sale are: Trainerspotter and Money; if a success, could this venture by ASOS open the doors to more independently based brands such as Trapstar, Second Son or even the up and coming names like Benjart and would this be a welcome invitation or would it be considered selling out?

Whilst it’s evident that growth is needed in the UK, I don’t personally believe that getting a big stockists interested is simply the answer. The work has to come from the bottom up, brands need to keep the work ethic and the levels rising, UK indie stockists need to then in-turn start looking closer to home for brands to stock, and consumers need to show the same support they are begining to show for UK music and show more love to the home-grown talents.
